Every time someone shares their intention to write a book with me I want to advise them to write blogs or tweets instead. But I feel like I can't because the advice sounds like "why don't you do this low status thing instead of that high status thing"

But really if you just want to spread your ideas or have influence writing a book seems like a bad investment. Especially to start. You can always repackage your thoughts into a book.
